A Technical Advisory Steering Committee that included stakeholder representation from industry, federal and state regulatory agencies, non‐government organizations, and academia was engaged to provide input and feedback on key project activities. The scope of work primarily consisted of the major tasks summarized below, each described further in the main body of the report.

What we are seeing today in energy prices is the impact of electing to work with cartels instead of the domestic oil and gas producers of America. We can supply the oil and natural gas right here in the U.S., for our country and the rest of the world, if provided the opportunity to operate.

There’s no reason to hobble one of America’s most innovate and economically essential industries by choosing to place punitive regulations that are literally drying up American supply. This ultimately hurts hard-working Americans who are going to feel the ramifications of higher prices the most. There is no need to raise the price of energy for every American family who are already dealing with inflation rates we haven’t seen in 40 years.

Elder succeeds Robert Stewart, a long-time oil industry leader from Mt. Vernon. Elder believes the annual production from the Illinois Basin is very strategic to the U.S.

“I am looking forward to working with the IOGA team in making an impact at the state legislature and national association levels,” said Jim Elder.

Elder was born and raised in Southern Illinois. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a B.S. in earth sciences – geography/geology. After graduation, he joined the Reed Tool Company and spent his entire career in the oil and gas service industry, serving domestic U.S. and international Latin America. He continued his education at Southern Methodist University earning an executive M.B.A.

“Jim has great experience in the oil industry and will bring a calm, steady outlook to our organization,” said J. Nelson Wood, IOGA president.

Elder enjoys cooking outdoors, traveling, and is a certified Master Gardner. He especially enjoys entertaining family and friends. He is married to Kathy and is the father of two sons.
